Menachem Greenfeld
Apr 12, 2016

Jose Altuve, 2B, HOU

Altuve had a big game Monday against Kansas City, going 3-4 with 3 runs scored and 2 SB's. The two steals give him an MLB leading 6 on the season, twice as many as the second place Bryce Harper (3). Altuve has posted four straight seasons with a .280+ BA and 30+ SB's, and he is well on his way to reaching those marks again in 2016, thanks to his elite contact rate and speed. With 8 runs scored in 7 games, he also has a good chance to surpass his career high in runs (which surprisingly sits at only 86).

Ketel Marte, SS, SEA

Marte had a rough game on Monday, going 0-4 with 3 strikeouts, and is now batting .160 on the season. While strikeouts are not usually a big problem for Marte, he doesn't hit the ball hard that often, so even his .283 BA from last year will be hard to repeat. He has now power to speak of (he still has yet to record an XBH in 2016) and he seems to be moving down in the order. With a number of new shortstops bursting onto the scene, Marte is slowly losing mixed-league relevancy.

Albert Pujols, 1B, LAA

Believe it or not, Pujols entered Monday last in all of baseball with -0.4 WAR. At least he helped fantasy owners a little bit on Monday by picking up his first steal of the season. The contact is still there for King Albert (only 4 K's in 28 PA's) but he disturbingly has yet to pick up an extra-base hit in 2016. That being said, we have seen Pujols go through some serious cold spells over the last few seasons only to break out with a homerun barrage shortly after. He still has plenty of value in mixed-leagues and may make a good buy-low candidate.

Miguel Sano, OF, MIN

Let's just say this hasn't been the start Sano owners were hoping for when they drafted him in the 5th round this spring. After an 0-3, 2 strikeout showing on Monday, Sano sits at 3 for 22 on the season with no extra base hits and a whopping 13 strikeouts in 26 AB's. Ouch. Still, as long as the Twins keep rolling him out there, the power will eventually come, and that's enough of a reason to target him in trades. That being said, the contact problem is real, and so is the possibility of him finishing the season with a BA south of .230.

Hector Santiago, SP, LAA

Santiago makes for a nice daily play on Tuesday when he faces a mediocre Oakland offense in a pitcher friendly Oakland Colliseum. He pitched well with 7 K's in 6 IP in his first start this season, and is a decent bet to have another solid outing at a low cost. Value Play DraftKings Salary: $6,900.
